The cost of a tapestry depends on the cost of materials, size, and detail of the design. Please e-mail me if you would like to discuss creating a custom tapestry for your space.
4 feet x 4 feet
This tapestry was created with full consciousness and presence, infused with care and peace, and is an abstract interpration of the logo for Integrated Physical Therapy. It was infused with loving kindness, metta, and appreciation for all the lives transformed and helped by the kind of healing work they do. The tapestry is made with a burlap backing with frayed edges, variety of satins, silks and raw silks with frayed edges, with handsewn hemp rope.
4 feet x 4 feet
This was a gift for our instructors for my yoga teacher training. Each trainee gave me a bead they felt represented them, sewn on the top right. The center beads represent our 5 instructors. Each bead was hand sewn on with a loving kindness meditation for the individual. It contains 105 hand sewn beads and 80 peacock feathers. The back says “with love 2011 why tts” and is made of decorative paper and stickers. Sewn on burlap fabric with frayed edges.
3½ feet x 11 feet
The new tapestry for West Hartford Yoga has just been completed, and consists of 38 different pieces in a random, angled pattern with a horizontal flow. It hangs from the ceiling at the front of the room. It is made of recycled fabrics from the ceiling installation in the studio. The backing is exposed on each side and frayed.
4 feet x 7 feet
The tapestry consists of 44 different fabrics and pieces sewn together to form a design that conveys organic, natural growth.
It has 6 sections of color: brown, blue/green, green, purple, red and gold. The variety of color in the sections for me is symbolic of the acceptance, support and encouragement to explore, find and truly be yourself that the yoga community provides. The layers of this tapestry are reminiscent of the layers of my true self that were unfolding in my yogic journey while creating this piece. The edges of each piece of fabric are raw and frayed, and form the vine-inspired shape that moves throughout. hemp rope was hand sewn to each layer.
The fabrics in the tapestry combine to create a lush and varied piece consisting of a variety of textures, including mohair, velour, velvets, crushed velvets, silks, raw silks and suedes.
This tapestry hangs at the new West Hartford Yoga studio.
6 feet x 8 feet
This piece was created for the Vital Life Center, a local yoga studio. It was created with silks, raw silks, and velour fabrics, and contains rhinestone accents. It was created with the love for the community there in mind.
